We’re Growing!

Much anticipation and planning has gone into the addition you will see taking shape just north of our buildings. For years Wildcat ABC has had a long waiting list of families needing before and after school child care. A couple years ago we seriously began discussing what an addition would look like.

We will be adding on five additional classrooms, a new kitchen, storage space, and handicapped accessible restrooms. When the addition is complete, work to remodel the existing Family Life Center kitchen and restrooms will begin. Two classrooms and an office will fill the space currently serving as kitchen and restrooms.

During the construction there will be limited outside use of the Family Life Center as items are stored in that space during the transition.

Our hope our doors to more families next winter and really be ready to serve about 80 more children next summer. Pray with us, have patience with us, and celebrate with us as we take a huge leap into the future of the Carlisle United Methodist Church.

If you’d like to help fund the project, no amount is too small! You may contribute here.

National Mentoring Month

January has been National Mentoring Month, it’s a big deal for our congregation. Twenty-two years ago we began a mentoring program within the Carlisle Community School District. Our members are matched with one child for one hour weekly. The Mentor and Child also have a Prayer Partner who prays for their needs daily. Over 100 people participate in this ministry.

Ms. Lori has been the face of Kids Hope USA in our Church/Community. She led a group of mentors and children who visited with all children in the elementary schools to acquaint them with Kids Hope USA and what it means to be a mentor.

Sunday, January 29th was our annual recognition/commissioning service for Kids Hope USA.

It was a very touching service filled with examples of God’s work in our congregation and school! Visit our Facebook Page to watch the January 29th Service.

Let the Little Children Come

Wildcat ABC began as a mission of the Carlisle United Methodist Church in 1990. Since that time we have cared for over a thousand children while parents work. Our children are safe, loved and cared for in a Christian environment. We’re currently serving 90 children, many second generation Wildcat ABC families.

We can’t help all those who need care, we are out of space.

Mark 9:36-37
Taking a child, He set him before them, and taking him in
His arms, He said to them,
“Whoever receives one child
like this in My name receives Me; and whoever receives
Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me.”

Advent Study – “Christmas Is Not Your Birthday”

Sign Up Here to participate in this study being led by Rev. Dr. Denny Coon.

The stores have already set out their Christmas merchandise so let the church begin thinking of Christmas as well. I’m offering an Advent study this year which will begin on Sunday, November 20 at 8:30 AM and continue through Sunday, December 18. For five short lessons the class will read and study the book, Christmas Is Not Your Birthday, Experience the Joy of Living and Giving Like Jesus by Rev. Mike Slaughter.

Pastor Mike was the lead pastor at Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church in Tipp City, Ohio for many years. His book helps Christians refocus their time, energy, and resources for Christmas. The book will help us experience the peace of knowing that God is truly with us and understand what sacrificial giving is all about.

Here are a couple of questions Pastor Mike raises to help us explore our faith during this time of the year: How does Mary’s experience of the first Christmas influence the way you approach the holiday season? How would your view of life change if you completely trusted in God’s promises to bring good out of bad, raise up the lowly and to comfort the afflicted?

Let’s study together this year and see how the Holy Spirit can lead us to new understandings of Jesus birth and how his birth impacts our lives. The cost of the book is $10.00. Child care will be provided
