Sunday, July 2, 2023, Pastor Mike Fillmore and his wife, Kathy, will begin serving our congregation. Mike started in ministry about 15 years ago – he has served in Pleasant Hill, Montezuma, Northern Iowa and then Dennison. His letter to our congregation follows.
Dear Carlisle United Methodist Church-
Grace and Peace to you all. My name is Mike Fillmore. My wife Kathy and I have been married for forty years and we are so happy that we have been appointed to your church. Kathy and I have three grown children and three grandchildren that we really love to spoil! Our son is the senior pastor at Fort Dodge First UMC, one of our twin daughters lives outside Council Bluffs with her new husband and her sister lives in Ankeny and teaches art. Kathy recently quit teaching to help with the care of multiple family members so being closer to them will really help us a lot.
I am an elder in the Iowa Annual conference, I received my Master’s Degree from Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, with an emphasis in Wesleyan Studies. I have pastored a large variety of churches in multiple areas of the state, specializing in church growth. Each and every appointment was blessed and has been a blessing for Kathy and me.
I am on the Board of Directors for the Iowa United Methodist Foundation, and I am a member of the conference parish and development committee. I have also created and taught multiple classes and studies, I was a circuit leader in our district, and launched an assortment of new ministry initiatives. I love all ages of student ministries, and I am passionate about, Making Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World.
Again, thank you for allowing us the privilege of being in ministry with you at Carlisle UMC. We can’t wait to get started!
Peace to All,
Mike
